The book is essentially a conversation between a student and his professor. Morrie, his professor, suffers from ALS, a terminal disease and his health deteriorates with time. He is aware of of his imminent death and has accepted it. We all are afraid to die but the truth is that we all will. In the book Morrie, simplifies all the big questions of life including emotions, family, marriage, children, and death. He focuses on the importance of being at peace with death because it is only when we are comfortable dying we can actually be living. Book very simply explains about the human existence, we can stop worrying about the bigger problems.
My favorite quote from the book: You are not a wave, you are a part of the ocean
Throughout life we keep on thinking about things we need to do to make our lives better, rather what we are supposed to do is to make the world better and our life would be great by itself. We will definitely perish like all other waves in the ocean but it is all the waves that together add the magic to the ocean.
Most important takeaway from the book: Love or Perish.
